[Unit Project 1]:My Handmade

My Handmade

The base is made of cloth, and fish and flowers are made of felt. That's why the texture is fluffy. Also, because beads are used in the foam part of the sea, it looks a little shiny. These sizes are about the same size as A4 size paper.

My mother and grandmother were dexterous with their hands and made various things by hand. They have always made various things for me. I admired them and started to do handmade. I made these place mats when I was elementary school. I made a works of sea creatures as a homework for summer vacation. I made this work while consulting with my mother. However, we argued many times until it was completed because we couldn't make it well or disagreed. I was very pleased when I showed my grandmother the completed work through trial and error.

''This work is very beautiful!'' said my grandmother.

I'm so happy. I think I want to make my grandmother happy. So, I made the works of flowers and plants were made for my grandmother. This work is made with leftover cloth and felt. This work's flowers are in my house garden.

''This work is very beautiful too! The color of these flowers is like a rainbow. Thank you. You have a talent for handmade,'' said my grandmother.

What they made was very good and seemed to be sold at the store.  This work made me like handmade more and started to make various things. I especially like to remake bags and clothes using the clothes and leftover cloth that I and my family wore. It has become my best hobby now.

Currently, mass disposal of clothing is a problem. The amount of clothing thrown away in a year in the world is 92 million tons. About 300 billion clothes were thrown away and eventually burned and reclaimed.

I often remake family clothes that I throw away even if they are handmade. The "Responsible Consumption and Production" of the SDGs has an impact on my handmade works and materials used. It also affects the perspective of not only making things that you throw away, but also making things that you don't throw away.  I think that we can prevent mass production and mass consumption by making new things or making things that we will not throw away in the first place without the idea of "throwing away". I also think that the idea of cherishing things will become even stronger.

Also, it has become an era where you can buy what you want immediately on the Internet and in stores. Therefore, fewer people are trying to make what they use. As the number of such people increases, the number of people who do handicrafts decreases. Children learn how to do it by watching their parents do handicrafts and doing handicrafts together. Therefore, more and more people can't do handicrafts, and they won't be able to fix their clothes or even put buttons on them by themselves. To prevent such things, I think it is important to touch handmade and handicrafts even a little.

High school soccer

Today, I went to Saitama Prefecture to watch high school soccer. My brother belongs to Yamagata Meisei high school soccer club. Yamagata Meisei high school participated in this year's National High School Soccer Championships for the first time as a representative of Yamagata Prefecture. We lost 0-4, but it was very good game! I would love to see them compete again next year and get past the first round, and I would love to see my brother compete as well!

[Unit Project 2]:How to cook Yamagata's local dish

Introduction Do you all know the local dish of Yamagata Imoni? It is a soup with taro as the main vegetable. It is said that Imoni originated in the mid-1600s. At that time, goods were transported by boat on the Mogami River. Boatmen sometimes had to wait for days until the recipients arrived. There was a village near the landing place where taro was a specialty. It is said that the origin of Imoni is that the taro and the codfish were boiled in a pot, and then enjoyed together on the riverbank to relieve the boredom of the day. I love Imoni. My grandmother's Imoni contains two kinds of konnyaku. I always eat a lot of konnyaku because I like konnyaku. That is why my grandmother puts a lot of konnyaku in the Imoni. Whenever my grandmother is asked what you want to eat when I come back to my parents' house, I always answer, Imoni. When I eat imoni, I feel that I have come back to Yamagata. Required Tools The pot that can hold 4L of water The pot that can hold 1500g of taro One la...

My cooking skil

When I entered university, I started living alone. I haven't cooked much until now. However, I started to cook because I lived in alone.  I love the French toast my mother makes, and I always asked my mother to make it at my parents’ house. Now, I’m practicing to get close to my mother’s it. On days when there is a class from the second period, I make a Obento. There are few kinds of side dishes and there are many frozen foods, but I’m working hard to make it a more colorful Obento.
